It seems that the RX gets a bad rep around here. Let me attempt to explain.
It’s quiet. Therefore the driver is isolated from their surroundings.
The drive is boring. Seriously. I’ve driven one and couldn’t remember anything about it.
The blind spots are horrendous.
The transmission is really lazy. You have to really push it to get it to downshift. So everyone does 5 under the limit.
Luxury badge = I do what I want
Perhaps the only question that should be posed is, “Why do people buy the 2016+ RX?”

It’s got a luxury badge, I’m assuming it’s comfortable, it’s reasonably practical, and it’s got the Toyota reputation.
I suspect that the RX 450h would actually drive better - no downshifting required.

Why are RX drivers bad? Because bad drivers are attracted to the RX’. The qualities of RX and the qualities of bad drivers are fully coupled. Reliable, luxurious, safe (physically and socially) crossover = traits half my moms friends who can’t drive for crap look for in a car

“luxury brand”
I know people who own them think it’s like some super high end brand but none of the proletariat brands are “luxury” except for the really high end mercs.
Badge Slaves are the dumbest people. But really what this is, is the lowest badge some soccer mom who’s graduated from minivans is willing to drive in and she’s a) terrible driver and b) distracted by kids or the cell phone and c) terrible drivers.
See that RX/NSX video? I bet it was a soccer mom and she’s saying “it came outta nowhere!”

It’s always an RX that pulls out in front of me on a highway in a no passing zone then proceeds at 10 under. Sometimes I wish I still had the Buick Electra and could just rear end those assholes and blame it on 1968 drum brakes.

Don’t feel like you have to stick up for these people. They’re the worst. No offense, especially if a dear friend or family member drives one.
ETA: I see that your mother owns one. I’m sure she is a better driver than most.

And the current one is about a hundred times better. The general manager of my dealership won’t even sit in one because it pisses him off how much better it is than his ‘15 F Sport

The gauges on the ‘16 f-sport are awesome.
I will seriously not even bother looking at a car if I don’t like the gauges, they’re one of the first things I look at on Edmonds.
